Uruguay has a great Cultural Heritage which is evidenced by its music, painters, writers and young artists. Tango, candombe and murga are typical cultural expressions of this country. Carnival in Uruguay is one of the longest-lasting celebrations in the world. There are festivities during the whole month of February. Candombe was declared part of the world’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2009.

Visitors can also enjoy the museums, theatres, cinemas, art galleries, art and craft markets, the Art Nouveau and Art Deco architecture of Montevideo, etc.
